We have so many insightful and powerful diaries written here at Daily Kos. Our diaries inform, inflame, impassion, and even entertain. We Kossacks have strong voices and an even stronger will to be the change we wish to see in this country.
One of the richest, and perhaps most under-appreciated, areas of thought come in the form of comments attached to these diaries.
Here at Top Comments we strive to recognize and promote the talent of this community by highlighting outstanding comments found throughout the day by the diarist, and through nominations at made at TopComments at gmail dot com by your fellow Kossacks.
These nominations are subjective, and certainly not complete (as no one can read the complete site on a daily basis!). But we hope they will serve to shine a light where deserved, and to give the reader a good starting point in finding conversation on the site.
Please come in and make yourself at home! Join us beneath the fold...
I've just arrived home to discover that Top Comments doesn't seem to have been published tonight. We did have a diarist scheduled, but emergencies can happen, and I don't see any sign of a published diary this evening. (If I've missed it and publish this as a duplicate, well, I've done more embarrassing things in the past, and probably will do so in the future, alas.)
As I mentioned last week, the Boston Early Music Festival opened last Sunday and closes this Sunday the 19th (which has already arrived in some, thought not all, time zones). I still have two more concerts to go to, and have just arrived home from a night of concerts that ended shortly after midnight. So if I seem just a wee bit fried, it's because I am, but I've had an evening of music by George Frideric Handel (including his pastorale Acis and Galatea) and Agostino Steffani.
Of course, I expect a large proportion of the rest of you to be fried as well, with the usual final night Netroots Nation party—albeit with far louder music than I just heard—finishing you off in grand style.
And speaking of finishing off, I'm going to finish off this section and start loading up comments.

It was another slow Saturday in the Top Comments mailbox, with but a single submission arriving by the 9:30pm Eastern Time deadline, the same turnout as last week. Just in case you happened to misplace it, the address of our mailbox for top comments submissions remains:
TopComments AT gmail DOT com
(change " AT " to "@" and " DOT " to ".")
Anyone can send great comments to our address. Be sure to include the direct link to a comment—the URL—which is available from that comment's date/time; we need that to find your choice. Please always include your Daily Kos user name in the body of your message, so we can credit you properly. If you send a writeup with the link, we are able to include that, too, though we reserve the right to edit.
From Dragon5616:
For a great summation of Clarence Thomas, read davehouck's comment in oxfdblue's recommended diary NY Times Going After Justice Thomas?
In the rescued-to-recommended diary Pardon me, Sir. Your reality check bounced by Citizen Blues, Denver11 explains that there's sacrifice and then there's sacrifice.
From sardonyx (your unexpected diarist):
Lenny Flank notes that cost per kilowatt-hour and carbon footprint for nuclear, wind, hydro, and solar power are remarkably similar.

A reminder: We still hope top mojo will return once we figure out how to strongarm convince Comment Search to give us exactly what we need in a form that we can use. Which is more difficult and requires more hand-editing than it should be (or used to be). I've just read elsewhere that the lack of Top Mojo became an issue at the DK4 panel at NN11, so this problem may be rectified sooner rather than later...
