Welcome to the LGBT Kos and Friends
Sunday afternoon open thread!
Brought to you this week by cooper888.
Please note: This is designed to be a safe space to discuss LGBT issues, so please, keep your piefights where they belong, which is not here. That applies to the meta food fight of the day, the Obama Wars, what have you. It's not that we don't like debate or that we don't have opinions on those issues. There are places for these debates and they are not here at LGBT Kos. We are more interested in the diversity of our life experiences, our cultures, and our dreams of a better tomorrow. We believe that we can create a space to discuss these differences without engaging in the political debates that have often divided our community. If you can't abide by this rule, you'll be asked to leave.
Welcome to the LGBT Kos open thread...
...a place to let our hair down and talk about whatever is on our minds, gossip, music, books, movies, you name it! Everyone is welcome from top to bottom (grin) so drop a comment and let us know what's going on.
This week, VACATIONS!
Ha, remember Damron? I didn't know they still published their guide! Of course they have an iPhone app now. No Android though... come on Damron get it together.
So... anywho's, we have a summer vacation planned in Oahu, Hawaii coming up in August! We can't wait. Our friends got married in DC once it was legal and are now repeating their ceremony in Hawaii for family and friends who couldn't make it to DC. We plan to arrive early and stay a few days after for our own little honeymoon since we never officially took one after we married here in California August of 2008.
I feel lucky in that we have never experienced discrimination in our travels, although we don't really travel to many places where it might be an issue. We did take a 5 day Greek Isles cruise in 2000 that included a 2 night stay in Athens before departing to Rhodes, Santorini, Kusadasi (Turkey), and one other which escapes me, arriving in Istanbul with another 2 nights there. We were traveling with another gay couple and the four of us were wandering around the back alleys of Istanbul freely without much thought of danger and for the most part we felt very comfortable and never threatened in any way. The scariest part of that trip was flying into the Athens airport which seemed very undeveloped for 2000, especially since the Olympics were planned there in 2004.
Did you ever date that person who you just couldn't stand when traveling? Yep... I've been there and it was a nightmare! Let me just say its lucky we made it out alive. UGH!
So.... how about you? Any vacation plans?
