Sadly for our country it has. According to conservative editorial opinion writer Dr. Charles Krauthammer, the Republican lawmakers have blown it big time by playing Russian roulette with the U.S. economy in its irrational refusal to raise the federal debt ceiling. It is also not lost on Dr. Krauthammer that President Obama has cleverly backed the Republicans into a box of their own making.
The events of this and last week have revealed that the GOP is not upholding its oath to serve all of its constituents. Instead they are clicking their heels in a Hitleresque fashion and marching in lockstep behind a purely ideological drum master.
I guess the majority of Republican lawmakers have forgotten that they are public servants who were elected to serve their constituents. They were not elected to destroy the U.S. government nor were they sent to Washington to fuel a global calamity.
The Republicans are being totally outmaneuvered. The House speaker appears disoriented. It’s time to act. Time to call Obama’s bluff.
I am sorry Doctor Krauthammer but the only person the lunatics on the far right will listen to is neocon bully-in-chief Grover Norquist. The more moderate Republicans are trying to obey the orders handed down to them by their ventriloquists on Wall St. but Grover won't let his loony tune tools play with the moderates.
In other words, the GOP shows us once again how it is incapable of actually governing. It excels mostly at fomenting culture wars, ginning up an unnecessary war in the Middle East, turning a blind eye to the banks' reckless gambling casinos on Wall St., character assassination, lying, shutting down vote recounts, obstruction and obfuscation all with a little help, of course, from its propaganda arm Fox Fixed "News."
What an upstanding, patriotic and principled group of lawmakers.
Below is one of many works in Republican insanity.
And here we have not only a sane politician but one who is a true leader who is not afraid to make tough decisions.
As well as one who is concerned about the needs of everyday Americans.
Cross posted on Texas Kaos.
Dr. Charles Krauthammer, a psychiatrist and conservative political opinion writer's tail feathers are furiously flapping in utter panic over the debt ceiling negotiations between the Democrats and Republicans. It seems that Republican lawmakers in the U.S. Congress have revealed their hormonal thirteen year old spoiled brat mentality, most of whom are blinded by a deeply cynical, un-American and an extremist right wing ideology.
Snake oil opportunists and corrupted conservative puppet masters who pull at the strings of the tea party lunatics are now in a rather inconvenient and stressful total panic mode.
The truly craven, the beyond the pale of disingenuousness and devious Republican lawmakers have brazenly informed the American people that they are AOK with a stock market crash that will throw thousands if not millions of workers out of jobs. Interest rates will go up. The dollar and bond rates will go down. The billionaire puppet masters that control the hormonal Republican teenagers get it that their economically clueless tools are out of control.
TX Governor Rick Perry(R-far right) wants to pray for rain and better times. Maybe the Governor should pray for his party and himself instead.
The corporate fat cats that bought the crazy right wing ideologues elections are also beginning to realize that their teenagers who are a mission to dismantle and destroy our government can and will make their lives more miserable too. Instead of having to pony up a couple of hundreds of thousands in extra taxes, the fat cats get it that their purchased puppets are willing to bring on a financial calamity that can and will lose billions in a global economy.
I guess the puppet masters underestimated their puppets.
We all know that Grover Norquist has been on a crusade to shrink government and drown it in the bathtub, even if it means a global melt down and yet more human misery and suffering. But hey, what else is new in the insane world of Norquist, ALEC, as well as the toolery of Rupert Murdock's News Corpse and the Koch brothers.
Meanwhile Dr. Paul Krugman a Nobel Laureate in Economics confirmed that the GOP has indeed gone crazy.
There aren’t many positive aspects to the looming possibility of a U.S. debt default. But there has been, I have to admit, an element of comic relief — of the black-humor variety — in the spectacle of so many people who have been in denial suddenly waking up and smelling the crazy.
A number of commentators seem shocked at how unreasonable Republicans are being. “Has the G.O.P. gone insane?” they ask.
Why, yes, it has. But this isn’t something that just happened, it’s the culmination of a process that has been going on for decades. Anyone surprised by the extremism and irresponsibility now on display either hasn’t been paying attention, or has been deliberately turning a blind eye.
And may I say to those suddenly agonizing over the mental health of one of our two major parties: People like you bear some responsibility for that party’s current state.
Sarah Palin might have a good point about the lamestream media.
The good news for we the wee ones who don't really count, at least where Republican politicians are concerned, is that the right wing triumvirate of domination, control and greed is presently unraveling at rocket speed.
And who would the water carriers for the triumvirate be? None other than Rupert Murdock's News Corps, the U.S. Fox Fixed "News" the now foxified Wall Street Journal and the Republican Party, naturally.
And who would ALEC be? An almost 40 year old conservative think tank of course. The Koch brothers and Exxon Mobil support ALEC big time.
That is not all.
The best government that money can buy.
The right wing's crusade to privatize government.
At least now we know why the GOP has gone insane. ALEC is a trojan horse for tax loathing greed monger billionaires and Libertarians. The think tank has convinced the GOP to do its heavy lifting and the Party has willingly obliged. The GOP has therefore thrown our country's democratic principles under the bus. It has sold out the American people. It has sold out on its oath to serve the people they "represent." For the insane and treasonous GOP would obviously prefer to live in a Libertarian dictatorship in which it can super glue its lips to the derrieres of their controllers.
Why does this model also remind me of the way Rick Perry runs the state of Texas?
So much for a government that is run for, of and by the people.
