I keep watching President Obama daily worry about compromise and bringing the Republicans around to a reasonable position on most things.
I watched the cave last year on the Bush Tax Cuts. That bothered me.
Now, President Obama talks about 'entitlement' reforms as bait for a 'big deal' on the debt ceiling. Using the elderly, the poor and very young to lure Republicans into a 'big deal' on reducing the deficit while we fight foreign wars, bailout Wall Street and under tax the rich seems odd to me.
Someone tell me why I am supposed to worry about having a Republican President elected in 2012?
It seems to me that if we have a Democratic President willing to scuttle the last of the New Deal, scuttling health care reform and repealing all financial regulation will not be far behind. What else might President Obama bargain away to lure Republican consent?
And, if we are willing to scuttle the last of the New Deal, what more would a Republican President do than President Obama is doing?
If President Obama does 'reform' Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid I will not be voting for him in 2012. It is that simple.
I will support any primary challenger to him and if that is not successful, I will not vote in the Presidential election. Again, it is that simple.
At least with a Republican President I will not be disappointed repeatedly.
