The Wall St. Journal is reporting that the GOP House caucus is more divided than ever. Jim Jordan (R-OH), chairman of the Republican Study Committee, is "confident" Boehner will not get enough Republican votes to pass his plan to increase the debt ceiling.
At the moment, there are still only five GOP House members on the record as opposing the plan. Jordan's voice, however, carries particular weight. The RSC includes 178 members of the GOP House caucus, and identifies itself as "House Conservative Caucus."
Its congressional website is collapsed at the moment, but you can read the wikipedia page here.
Without conservative votes, the only way to raise the debt ceiling is to bring the Dems on board. Will Boehner go in that direction?
