First, I apologize for not thinking of this sooner. But I will not say it was "stupid" of me or apologize too abjectly, since nobody else seems to have thought of it either, and it is a damn good idea if I do say so myself!
So, with no further boring preamble, I urge all Liberals who can afford it to follow Eric Cantor's lead and invest as much of your money as you can afford to lose in shorting U.S. Bonds.
Why lose? Because my hope is that if they know that it will make a lot of Liberals filthy rich, and/or bankrupt their puppetmasters on Wall Street, Republicans will decide not to destroy the country after all because the only thing more important to them than defeating President Obama is never helping you or me or any Liberal in any way, and then short positions in U.S. bonds will become worthless, because the bonds will not lose their value.
We have called, written and e-mailed our "representatives" and protested repeatedly, in every available forum that the over-privileged must pay their share; we have exhausted the institutions of our so-called republic. Our few allies in Congress have tried appealing to Republicans' compassion, and they have tried appealing to Republicans' patriotism. But they have none of either for us to reach. All that is left is to appeal to their hate, which we all know that they have in abundance.
The only plausible motive that conservatives could ever have to not throw the country into abject poverty is that in the process, many Liberals will become much wealthier. To make this work, put as much of your money into short positions in U.S. bonds as you can afford to lose, as quickly as possible. This will work best if the largest number of Liberals have the most possible short positions, purchased at the lowest possible price per share. To do that, you all need to place orders before the market has the chance to respond by raising the price.
Maybe I'm wrong, and the teabaggers will still refuse to raise the national debt limit and will default on the expenses they have already incurred, even though Liberals will profit by it. In that case, you will get a large windfall you should not feel bad about. Just consider yourself to be in a better position to help out the impoverished, whose numbers are set to increase drastically!
But don't count on a big profit. I am not offering investment advice here. I am advocating a very expensive, last-ditch political strategy. If I am right, you will lose everything you invest in this effort, so please, invest only what you can truly afford to lose. It's possible that you will come out ahead, but my plan is to save the economy by betting on conservatives' hate. And you don't want to bet against that any more than you can afford to lose!
