Well F.O.O., it sounds like we're going to need a bit of this over the next couple of weeks.
If you're a tee - totaler, try this!
If y'all don't do sweets OR booze, you're in the wrong damn diary!
Let's get SPARKy! See picture #1 above to reinforce this story. ;D This kitty is absolutely a lift - with - the - legs aminal. Finally, I think I'll suggest this activity for "Welcome Week" at the university where I work & teach. ;D
Let's Countdown!
"Debts All Folks" - Yea, I made a conscious effort to stay off teh Twitter & wasn't here very much today; I wanted to wait until cooler analysis prevailed. Plus, I had a hella busy day at work! But, when I heard on NPR that the deal included no sources of revenue, I knew it was bad. The House voted for the deal to the tune of 268 - 161; I'll try to rustle up the roll call numbers. The Senate votes tomorrow. Speaker Sobbing Small Price to Pay Goldilocks told CBS news he got 98% of what he wanted in the shtick. That's compromise?! VP Joe Biden had told Dems in the House that President Obama was ready to go all 14th Amendment on the thing; I highly doubt that. 1 little silver lining is that Rep. Gabby Giffords went to Capitol Hill to cast her vote! :D This whole "Congressional committee" shtick is what worries me. And, all this fuss over a balanced budget amendment that'll never see the light of day is just...&^%$#@! Rep. Nancy Pelosi itched & moaned about the bill but voted "yes" anyway. The House Progressive caucus voted "no." Senator Reid's still insisting that "revenue" could be part of the discussion in that new damned committee; for those who believe that, I've got a bridge to sell you. Rep. Emanuel Cleaver called the shtick "a Satan sandwich." Economists are not thrilled with this deal, either. Brian Beutler gets to talk "deal." Brian called this deal "an unadulterated victory" for the GOBP. 'Nuff said... Here's Rep. Emanuel Cleaver! He insists the argument's not over; I'm not as confident. He said the President got the best deal he could've gotten. WRONG!! And, I wonder what's gonna be so damn "super" about this "super Congress"? Do they get red capes?!
"House Passes Debt Deal" AKA "Left Behind" - Here's our Great Orange Satanic Leader! He said the "debate" between "the left" was between those who think President Obama did the best he could and those who just wish he'd win one of these damn "compromises" every once in a damn while. Markos also thinks President Obama should've put the 14th Amendment option on the table; I never thought he'd do that. Markos doesn't think a primary challenger is a good idea because the idea of challenging the first African - American POTUS just ain't right. But, he sure as $hit wished President Obama would get a spine.
"House Passes Debt Deal Part Deux" - Even with this $hitacular deal, this country still faces a downgrade in its credit rating! Keith gets to interview his boss on the subject. ;D VP Gore doesn't think Congress is working; he thinks our system of government is in trouble. A whole mess of bad decisions are being made in light of wrong information, ideology, etc. VP Gore thinks the coin needs to get out of the political game - no chance because of Citizens United. *&^%$#@! He's also pretty disgusted that the jobs issue seems to have disappeared. VP Gore thinks the internet is a great tool for organization & "name dropped" our Great Orange Satanic Leader. :D
WPITW - A baseball trade makes the list?! O...K... Bat$hit Bachmann dissed Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac even though she got help from them and made no bones about admitting it. Lonesome Rhodes is still on his Nazi shtick on the Oslo attacks.
"Special Comment" - According to Keith, our government has given up on the concept of right & wrong. OK, I gotta get this play on words right here!
We have declared in this debt deal these truths shall be self - evident (1) that all political incumbents are created equal (2) that they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights that among these are re - nomination, re - election, and the pursuit of hypocrisy.
Keith poo - pooed the whole idea that this deal was a "compromise." He also called out tea baggers for their selective "love" of the Constitution. Not only are we getting a "super Congress," but we're getting a potential Constitutional amendment shoved down our throats that has no chance. Also, there is no guarantee that the "triggers" will yield cuts from defense. And, the rich will continue to get richer, and corporations will get more corporate & powerful. Keith also reiterated VP Gore's assertion that our political system is broken. Keith wants we, the people to go all 1960s in a 21st century way, and he recalled Howard Beale! :D
