In a short video on the BBC, Jon reluctantly steps away (actually, the reporter has to pull him) from the troops to answer a few questions.
Part of the BBC Video transcript:
Your main reason for this trip?
JS: The main reason for coming on this trip? Honestly, is, to let them know that we're thinking about them stateside. It's a long war. It's a tough war. And they bore the burden of this, overwhelmingly - the military families. Just to let them know people are thinking about them.
And when you go back into your television studio? What are you going to be telling the world about this?
JS: Oh, this is for me. This is between me and them.
It's not going to be on your show?
JS: It's not. This is about us. They'll be some shoutouts. But, this is special.

OK.....look closely above. Is Jon writing the infamous 7 words not allowed on television?
Above is from Sqidpants on Flickr: about 7 am at Kandahar Airfield. He was in town with Karl Malone and David Blaine for a USO tour. This is pretty much what all of KAF looks like.
There are more pictures and on overview of the trip on Adm. Mike Mullen's photo essay page.
