I make this statement often when I'm hanging around the homestead with my hubby and two cats, especially while sipping morning coffee. I like it here. In our 102-year old house with a little work needed here and there, a yard with room for a vegetable garden, flower gardens and several big trees. But my diary isn't about home, it is about this place--Daily Kos. I like this place.
I come here often, daily in fact unless I'm on vacation or involved in a big project. I'm a quiet participant, mostly I read a lot and say little. This place was my refuge during many events of the past few years, Barack Obama's election, the gulf oil blowout, the Wisconsin protests and upcoming recall elections, the awful 2010 midterms, etc. I learn so much here, and there is a great variety of interests that get aired in the diaries and discussions.
So what am I trying to say? I like this place.
People come here and talk, discuss, debate, share information and stories and experiences. People come here and say what they think and it feels like maybe they matter a little bit.
I especially like that people here can disagree. I hope that the managers of this site never feel the need to purge the variety of opinion that gets posted here. The great conversation cannot go forward if it is not inclusive. So all of you contributors to this site, thank you. Thank you for writing, and sharing your passion, and your hearts and minds.
I know the debt ceiling is the latest event that is causing emotions here to run high. It is understandable. I am not weighing in on that discussion here, except to say, isn't it great that you have a place to vent, whatever your perspective?
I don't know of another web site quite like this one. I keep coming back because every day I get to be in touch with people who care about many of the things I care about, and I am grateful that this community exists. Thanks to all who come here and take the time to share knowledge, opinions, emotions, words. In this crazy world and country, we need this outlet. We need this place.
I like it here.
