Keith's Special Comment on the Sugar Coated Satan Sandwich that America Just swallowed.
...but he didn't blame Obama, he blamed the state of our political system as functionally broken - and argued that the way to fix it is to get active and get vocal.
If this week debt deal has you upset, if it has you angry, this is the video you need to see and it's message is one we all need to take to heart.
Here's some of Keith with Markos describing as I've said that You Don't Negotiate with Economic Terrorists.
There's plenty of reason to be angry. Plenty of reason to play shoulda, coulda, woulda and refight past battles such as saying this was simply just another repeat of the failure to get the Public Option via Reconciliation (even though brand new programs can not be created within the Reconciliation process) - it's understandable to be white hot Mad! Maybe he should have used the 14th Amendment Option (although it had it problems) or maybe they should have jump all over McConnell's Clean Debt Ceiling offer instead of holding out for a great "Grand Bargin".
The question is: What's the best thing to do with that anger?
Just as the pendulum first swung toward the left in their response to Vietnam and Bull Connor in the 60's, only to be gradually countered by the right leading to Reagan, just as we captured the momentum in 1993 to win back the Presidency and end the Reagan Era, only to have it return to the Right in 2000 leading us to the tragic misadventures of Iraq and Torture under Bush, just as it regained the initiative in 2006 to retake Congress and in 2008 to take the White House, only to be countered by rabid mad-dog Tea-Bag Economic Terrorists - we need dust ourselves off, climb back up from the floor and resolutely Do It Again.
This has to be the last straw. This has to be the last line in the sand.
It's too easy to blame President Obama, or Harry Reid or Nancy Pelosi - but I don't think they lost this for us. They all want what we want, but no longer had the best tools in place to accomplish those goals. I think we lost this in 2010.
We lost this when we repeatedly let the Tea Baggers LIE that we have a "Spending Problem" rather than a Jobs and Revenue problem. This was a failure, but not just Obama's or Pelosi or Reid's failure - it was a systemic failure.
This was the inevitable consequence of not showing up last November.
And in some ways, this had to happen to get us as motivated, angry and pissed as we need to be to finally say Enough!
No more. No Further.
We may have actually needed this to happen to push us the way that people of Wisconsin were pushed in response to Scott Walker Union Stripping.
We should be out in the streets. We should be organizing our asses off online, and yes, putting together boiler plate legislation of our own to push to every Democratically controlled State. Let's fight back by repeating what New York State just did with Marriage Equality. Let's fight back by repeating what Vermont just did with Single Payer. Let fight back by bombarding Congress to make sure a real progressive like Rep Grijalva is finally In the Room with the SuperCongress to hold their feet to the fire and protect Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security while finally putting the brakes on the massive systematic extraction of American wealth and resources that our Feudal Corporate Overlords have been engaged in for decades.
They won't stop unless we make them, and we can't make them unless we give them no choice what so ever.
We've lost one battle, one hill in this campaign - but the war isn't over and I for one DO NOT plan on losing the entire country.
So- whose got a facebook page or group that we can start plotting and planning demostrations? Where can we begin Mailbombing Congress (With Our Words, of course!) ? Let's get this show on the Road, because the time is now.
If the Egyptians were able to change the direction and Government of their Country using Facebook, Twitter and Youtube - so can we.
