I think it's probably fair to say that no one is Happy right now. Our specifics for why we are Not Happy likely differ, and the degree to which and with whom we are Not Happy are as diverse as our glorious Kossack individuality makes possible. This diary isn't about the specifics; rather, it concerns the commonality of our Not Happy-ness.
As I thought about exactly how Not Happy I am, I developed an earworm. Follow me below the dingledoodlesquiggliedividerthingie fold...
When I'm feeling sad, I have my own list of Favorite Things:
- Hugs from my children
- A sublime piece of chocolate, either milk or white (although dark has been working hard to gain a spot :-)
- Music by one of my favorite musicians while reading a good book
- Breyer's Vanilla ice cream with a dollop of genuine caramel. Not "caramel sauce". The real "needs to be heated to liquify" kind.
I suppose a dish of ice cream garnished with chocolate delivered by my children while I was reading a book and iTunes was up would life me out of the Worst Funk Ever :-)
If this sounds like the stuff of fantasy... I figure if I can have a fantasy where what got perpetrated this week will fix the country, lead to economic prosperity, retire the debt, and give us all magic unicorn ponies that crap rainbow skittles shoved down my throat, then I damned well can imagine that for a few brief moments, bright copper kettles, snowflakes, and schnitzel can cheer me up. How about you, what are some of YOUR favorite things?

Brillig's ObDisclaimer: I try reeeeallllyy hard to publish everything without regard to content. I really do, even when I disagree personally with any given nomination. "TopCommentness" lies in the eye of the nominator, and you the reader. I do not publish self-nominations (ie your own comments) and if I ruled the world, we'd all uplift each other instead of tear each other down.
