I'd probably be a shitty president because I would have told the Tea Party f**kers to kiss my sweet ass.
Nonetheless, I'm willing to wait to see the fine print on this deal before I start hyperventilating.
One thing, however, does give me hope that it's not entirely a big bite from a shit sandwich.
Rush Limbaugh is practically having a coronary over the deal.
On his recent show he played audio of President Obama's speech about the debt negotiations and added his own bigoted and ignorant comments. He even called the President of the United States a "jackass."
To me, the real test of this debt deal fiasco will be who is appointed to the super committee and whether the Republicans on it stonewall (as I suspect they will) or whether the committee will actually come up with something similar to the Gang of Six plan or the Simpson-Bowles Commission plan.
If the Republicans stonewall it to avoid any revenue increases, they are going to have to accept some rather draconian (draconian for them, at least) cuts to defense, veterans benefits and other security budgets.
If anyone thinks the mighty defense lobby is going to stand by and watch defense program slashed to avoid a slight increase in tax rates for millionaires, they are sadly mistaken.
