Welcome! "What's Happenin'?" is a casual community diary (and a regular series) where you can hang out, talk about what is going on with you, listen to music, talk about the news and the goings on here and everywhere.
Maybe you have seen some news stories that you think are not receiving enough attention and you'd like to post links to them. Maybe you'd like to just chat among friends about your life, your health, your family or social circle, your pets, etc. You can also post links to your own writings here on dkos or elsewhere. Perhaps you want to share some pictures or music or links to other things. This is your kind of place to talk about what's happening.
Just about anything goes, but attacks and pie fights are not welcome here. If that is what you want, find another place to do it. This is a community diary and a friendly, peaceful, supportive place for people to interact. This diary series is produced by the TeamDFH group but anyone who wants to join in peaceful interaction is welcome.

Good Morning!
Glacier Park Winters
Pale powdered mountains in the distant view,
Snow quietly tumbles down the jagged slopes.
The eagle slowly flys over head cutting through icy winds with every
beat of his powerful wings.
Not a sound to be heard, but the moans and
twisting screams of dead
branches.
Frosted over evergreens viciously shake off the newly fallen snow.
Footprints in the snow, so many, no one around to fill them.
Hypnotizing, icy streams whirling around and around waiting to
grasp your ankle to pull you into its world of wonders.
Tiny snowflakes under my feet making faint cries as they are being
stepped upon.
The wind whispers its soft melody in my ears as it whistles on by.
This is nothing more, but nature during winter in Glacier Park.

University invents heat-regulating building material
The material has the remarkable quality of being able to retain and release heat according to the specific temperature requirements for a building and will help dramatically reduce heating and cooling bills.
It has the unique advantage of possessing a larger energy storage capacity with faster thermal response than existing materials and could be cheaply manufactured.
Nissan eyes powering your house from your car
A prototype of the charging system running on a Nissan Leaf electric car was unveiled in Japan on Tuesday. The system can be used to supply electricity to a house during a power outage or shortage. A two-way charging device that would typically convert the household electricity supply to a voltage suitable for charging the car's battery can be reversed to feed power back into the household circuit.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture says the voluntary recall is for fresh and frozen ground turkey products produced by Cargill Value Added Meats out of its Springdale, Ark., plant from Feb. 20 through Aug. 2. The company has suspended production of ground turkey products at this plant, but notes other turkey products produced at Springdale are not part of the recall.
