France is number one
France was proclaimed “world champion of misery” by its own press this week after a report published in the US rated the French as most likely to suffer from clinical depression. The statistics are there, but is the reality?
Mon Dieu..... pfft I say, c'est la vie... at least we are depressed with style!
On the forums however, they’ve made their minds up for themselves. France is depressed and everybody should know why. “It’s obvious,” one commentator insists. “We spend too much time reading surveys.”
Spread the doom and gloom and you will feel better.
However one must do it with decorum, no tears are permissible; a simple dismissive gesture with a hand usually does the trick.
Leave depression to the professionals, the French do it so well.
Try saying "have a great day" in French" it just doesn't translate and "je vous souhaite une bonne journée" [i wish you a good day] is just more elegante. never puff out the cheeks and blow, show sang-froid and glare disdainfully at the world in general.
Americans please don't try this at home, I'm asked if I have indigestion if I try....hmmm
La fin du monde est inevitable.... at least go out with some style.
If you feel blue get even
