The Inoculation Project: Math & Science in Red State Schools
Solid science education is the best inoculation against ignorance.
The objective of this weekly project is to combat the anti-science push in conservative America by providing direct funding each week to math and science projects in red state classrooms.
In an attempt to increase the viewership and support of the Inoculation Project, we will be trying out different days and time slots in weeks to come.
This week's diary will post on SUNDAY morning at 9:30 AM EDT.
Check below the fold if you can't join us then and would still like to help.

Last week's project, Hands-On Science Library, was rescued! As a result, a high-poverty grade-school classroom in Woodbury, Tennessee will get an "Activity Library" of science projects that the teacher could not have paid for out of her own pocket. Many thanks to the donors who helped!
Our planned main project for this week is Bring Our Outdoor Gardens To Life. This teacher hopes to bring vegetable gardening to his high-poverty rural Texas middle-schoolers. They're surrounded by commercial agriculture, but not family farms, and they have no idea where their food comes from. The gardens will help them learn about nutrition along with environmental science.
Also: last week's bonus project, Introduction to Architectural Modeling, has only a couple of days to go, but has been whittled down to needing only $81.61 as I write this, out of the $488.20 it originally sought. If you're looking to make a donation today, please consider that project. If it fails to complete its funding by the Monday deadline, it will die and its donors will be asked to redirect their gifts to other projects.
There are hundreds and hundreds of these projects, new ones coming all the time. We can't save them all, but everything we can do is something more than would have been done otherwise. We've rescued 120 of them so far, and that's not bad for a bunch of liberals digging in our pockets for small-dollar donations.
Thanks again to everyone who's helped, whether with a donation or just with a rec, tip, republish, or pimp in another diary. We hope you can join us Sunday!
