Not from THE Brit, just A Brit.
If THE Brit does this I'll bow out.
Just caught this snippet of an article on Bloomberg
http://www.bloomberg.com/...
Murdoch’s son James was among those who had until today to supply written answers to questions from the committee following their testimony last month about phone hacking at the now- defunct tabloid.
“Reading documents related to hacking that I’m not allowed to reveal,” Watson said today in a Twitter Inc. message that was confirmed by Bloomberg News. “They’re dynamite though.”
Watson didn't supply any other details.
Referring to journalists who may ask to see the documents, Watson added: “And no point in journos asking for them. Parliament’s rules prohibit me from doing so until my committee considers them next Tuesday. We can decide to publish then. I’m voting yes!”
A spokesperson for News Corp. declined to comment.
In other bad news for News International, Simon Hughes (Liberal Democrat MP) has stated he will be suing them for the hacking of his phone.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/...
The Liberal Democrat MP, Simon Hughes, is to sue News International over phone hacking at the News of the World, he confirmed on Thursday.
Hughes told the Evening Standard: "It is important now that all those who were clearly the subject of criminal activity help to get to the bottom of what happened during this dark period in British journalism."
Hughes's decision to take legal action against Rupert Murdoch's Sunday tabloid, which was closed last month, is significant because the private investigator employed by the paper has already been convicted of targeting his mobile phone.
I also read today that the police operation investigating the phone hacking has been doubled. Happy days.
4:25 PM PT: For some background on the committee James Murdoch was supposed to answer to, this article lays it out. He was given 24 hours to respond more than 24 hours ago. As yet I can't find anything about a response.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/...
James Murdoch is expected to explain within the next 24 hours why he did not mislead a parliamentary select committee investigating phone hacking at the News of the World.
He has until Thursday to reply to a list of detailed questions asked by the Commons culture, media and sport select committee, following allegations by the former editor and former head of legal affairs of the now defunct News International tabloid that one of his statements was "mistaken".
4:30 PM PT: Another snippet of info I'm not sure has been reported here yet, another Met PR Chief has bitten the dust.
http://www.thedrum.co.uk/...
The Metropolitan Police has sent home its director of communications on 'extended leave' as a result of the phone-hacking scandal issue.
According to The Guardian today: “He faces accusations over a £24,000 two-day-a-week PR contract he handed to the phone hacking suspect.”
