It is possible to say or write the word "regulation" without prefacing it with modifiers such as "burdensome" "onerous" or "bureaucratic" ?
Here is my "New Rule" a la Bill Maher -
In the future when a politician complains or harangues about "crushing" regulations stifling industry and job growth - I want to know EXACTLY WHICH regulations he is referring to.
Name the, publicize them, and then let's get rid of them.
What I object to is the stupid demonization of all regulation in general. There are some obvious areas where we need MORE regulations and MORE enforcement of regulations that already exist.
I, for one, would prefer not to get salmonella if I order a turkey burger or a salad with sprouts.I like it when I don't get run off the roads by a semi trailer being driven by some guy into his 22nd consecutive hour of driving. I think it's a good thing that my boss can't require me to work for 60 hours with no overtime.
Anyway, the next time some politician appealing to the lowest common denominator starts spouting off about "needless" regulation killing business "confidence" (like they are the skinny weakling in need of a Charles Atlas course), could someone, anyone, stop them and say "Mr./Ms Candidate/Politician WHICH REGULATIONS are you specifically referring to?"
I would be personally astonished if they can come up with any or any they would be willing to say in public.
