Yesterday, President Obama, in response to a question from a teacher, said he supported public sector unions and everything that they had done, BUT, of course, there had to be "shared sacrifice" by them as well.
It seems to me that unions and the middle class have sacrificed quite a bit already. It seems to me that the moneyed and powerful have sacrificed... well, nothing.
So, is President Obama saying that unions and the middle class have to sacrifice more in order to convince the rich and powerful that maybe they should chip in a little?
Or is he just using that phrase as one of those little "code words" that the religious right uses to communicate "secret" meanings, like "I have to say that the unions have to sacrifice so that it seems like everybody is feeling some pain, but I know the unions have already sacrificed a lot, so don't worry, I've got your back"?
Anyone? Anyone?
