By now I think that even the biggest skeptics may be considering the possibility that perhaps the capitalist system in its current form has failed. The skepticism about the reality of the failure of the worldwide financial system is understandable. As a whole, abstract thinking and having a highly developed sense of empathy are not widespread qualities in society. Things could be crumbling fast all around, but for a person who is still doing fine (economically), it's almost impossible to be aware of the tsunami wave of calamity rapidly approaching.
Unfortunately that has been one of the major weak-spots of the middle classes throughout history. Once they achieve a certain level of economic stability they become complacent, not understanding that the path to those achievements is littered with cracked skulls, and brutalized and jailed activists that gave their all to demand freedom, democracy and dignity from oppressive regimes.
But the most important thing the middle class always fails to understand is that the forces that would subjugate, exploit and enslave the population never rest. Their pounding against the edifice of freedom, rights and dignity for the average citizen is constant, eternal. And therefore, those rights and freedoms must always be defended with the same commitment, zealotry, bravery and conviction, that helped make them a reality to begin with.
And that brings us to where were are today. Folks, the Economic Depression is here now. It will take a little longer for that reality to sink in, and of course, the main reason for that is because we are being lied to by the government and manipulated by the media. But as it's usually the case, the few brave and ethical intellectuals and members of academia, will come forward to tell the truth [See bobswern diary for more in-depth information].
The system has failed. And it failed because of an international criminal cartel that has been looting the world financial system, aided by bought off politicians in the United States and Europe.
People need to understand that these characters are as evil as any would-be tyrant in history. They are ruthless; they are sociopaths. In historical sense, they are the same type of people that would keep slaves under brutal oppression.
So what needs to happen? What's the next step? What should be our (the people) reaction? Time-out... Wait the-hell-a-second here! The financial system in the U.S. and Europe is not longer legitimate. It's controlled by a criminal cabal, and thus we need to reject the imposition of extreme economic hardship against the people.
Scrap the system all-together (the banking system). Break up all the financial conglomerates. Temporarily nationalize the banking system to fund the proper functions of government, from cities, to counties, to states. Stop foreclosures and re-make the entire real estate market.
Investigate and prosecute the criminals, including the criminals in our government.
Many people reading these "demands" may think that it would be impossible for those things to happen, and that there is no other option than to go down into an economic crash that will plunge millions and millions of people into abject poverty. If that what you think, then that's what we'll get.
The money is there my friends. They took it. They stole it, and we need to get it back... By any means necessary (within the constitution).
People need to unite all across the U.S. and Europe and stop the machine. There needs to be massive protests of occupation in all the financial centers. The protests and occupations need to be long-term.
In the meantime, to weather the times, people should start thinking about local sustainability concepts such as food cooperatives, communes, local security pacts to protect labor and social activists that are targeted by authorities or right wing goons.
For example, thinking in practical terms; there are planned protests of occupation in Washington, D.C. starting on October 6th. Could there be a network set up to provide support to the protesters, including shelter, food, materials, banners, flyers, etc.? The same for the Wall Street occupation starting in September. And then, let's do the financial district in San Francisco, and let's spread it across the country. The machine needs to be stopped. It needs to be reset.
I'm working on a project trying to assemble information from people across the country that are interested in the idea of communes, local sustainability, and collaboration focused on supporting each other once the Depression takes hold.
For example... Someone is paying an underwater mortgage. Someone else got evicted, but still has income. Could they think about joining forces? Starting a small-scale commune?
One of the most effective tools the criminal cabal trying to destroy democracy has is their ability to divide and conquer. To keep us from uniting against them. To keep us from figuring out what's going on. From finding out the truth.
Let's stop this criminal machine. Let's unite. Protests, massive work stoppages. Demand the proper investigations of Wall Street criminals and their enablers.
The system is broken. If we (as a people, in Europe, and in the United States) agree to continue taking part in this utterly corrupt system, we'll be the ones left holding the bag, exploited, subjugated, and enslaved. No fucking way!
