Just a quick diary to share this breaking poll from the lil con pollster Scott Rasmussen. Considering Obama has an aggregate approval in the low 40s, he remains in pretty good shape. Ras:
"President Obama continues to lead all named Republicans in early polling on the 2012 race for the White House, but the numbers suggest a competitive race may be possible."
1. Obama beats Perry: 43/40
2. Obama vs. Bachmann: 43/39
3. Obama vs. Romney: 46/38
4. In an Obama/Romney match-up, Romney only leads Obama by 59-points with
Republicans while Perry leads by 69-points.
5. With independents, Obama leads all three--even though Ras fails to tell us by
how much.
We are in the long hot "it's the economy stupid" summer and Obama is still hanging strong.
On another note, Ras has been polling Obama 5-8 points higher than Gallup in the daily tracking poll for some weeks now. In fact, Gallup has been polling several points under the aggregate for a while now. Is something up?
