During the racial strife of the sixties the Department of Justice would investigate lynchings because the police refused to do so. The Matthew Shepard Hate Crimes Act was put in place just for this reason.
Many LGBT people can tell you they are bulled for months and years by people before it escalates to violence.
Waterloo police spokesman Michael McNamee told the Des Moines Register that investigators are aware of the hate-crime allegations but say the dispute between Andrews and his attackers is at least a year old.
So they are implying that the young man that helped children and sang in a religious choir was a vandal. Blame the victim much?
McNamee says the arguments escalated on Thursday and involved a vandalized vehicle. The dispute came to a head early Friday morning with the attack.
Are they even looking?
No arrests have been reported.
Action: Contact The Attorney General and have them investigate this murder. They have yet to convict anyone since the MSHCPA has been introduced even though hate crimes have been increasing.
Marcellus Andrews deserves better.
