What are the requirements for someone to qualify for concealed carrying of a gun? What are the requirements for someone to teach concealed carry classes? I'm not against guns. I was raised with 2 brothers who regularly went hunting, and my oldest brother and nephews are big hunting fans. They also have guns in their homes for protection. Some people may feel they need to carry a gun sometimes. Maybe they are being stalked, maybe they are in a profession where they may be in danger and need to carry. I'm not against concealed carry laws, but I heard a scary story over the weekend that made me question the current laws.
This last week, I visited some old friends I've known for about 40 years. She told me something that made me want to laugh and cry at the same time. "Guess who is teaching the concealed carry classes around here?" I couldn't guess...but when she told me, I said WTF!!! My ex-husband was a nut, but could pick a guitar with the best. We were married for only 5 years back in the 70's, but like I said above, he was a nut and became somewhat abusive. He is now teaching concealed carry classes in Missouri. This is a man who once carried a gun into a bar, and would have shot another drunk if his cousins hadn't wrestled him out of the place. He does not have the temperment to be carrying a concealed weapon IMHO. He may have met all the state's requirements to carry, but maybe they should ask for references or something before they issue these permits.
I would think concealed carry classes would be taught by law enforcement personnel who are trained and licensed. There definitely should be laws against intoxicated people carrying guns, IMHO. I am not against the RKBA people. I'm only for responsible gun ownership and use. Guns don't kill people...People kill people. Crazy and drunk people kill more people than the average Joe. We need to have penalties for people who misuse and abuse their Rights to Keep and Bear Arms. What do you think about this?
