As some may know from previous diaries, my two stepchildren have been occupying Wall Street since Saturday. My stepson has returned home for a couple of days and then is heading back down.
Their father and I are very proud of them. It was such a thrill to see my step-daughter speaking to the protest assembly about legal training.
We were also appalled when we saw the arrests happening this morning and we both felt that we wanted to go down in solidarity. Our 11 year old daughter would come with us. I'm home schooling her and think we could do a lot of civic education via this experience. We though that we couldn't afford it, but we actually got some unexpected money and found out that bus tix are really, really cheap.
There is only one obstacle left....
I have a neurological condition which requires that I limit my sensory stimulation each day. I need to find a place where I can get away from it all and rest. I usually take at least one nap per day. In this type of situation, it may be more. I'm not sure it makes sense for me to sleep in the park, as I wouldn't get a peaceful rest.
I end up having seizures and other serious problems if I don't manage this well.
We'd be coming down with laptops, iPhones and, perhaps, an iPad. I'd be very excited to hook up with fellow Kossacks and do some team reporting.
I can only do this, though, if I find a place to rest.
So, I thought I'd reach out to my fellow Kossacks and see if they know of anyone who might offer me a sofa or bed.
Can you help me #occupywallstreet?!
