I am here at One Liberty Plaza for the 6th consecutive day of the #OccupyWallStreet protests. Crowds are growing. People just keep coming in. It seems like when one person leaves there is always another to replace them, and onlookers passing by continue to give us support. I feel encouraged.
I will soon be posting as many pics as I can, I apologize for making everyone wait. I'll also be updating every 20 minutes or so and answering questions in my non-official capacity.
Spirits are high. Drums are beating, it is like a tiny Woodstock but instead of mud we have concrete. I guess that's what happens when we have the longest war in US history (like Vietnam) and one of the worst economic collapses in US history (like the Great Depression). Stories keep pouring in about other cities that are joining our protests, Chicago, San Francisco, even Paris. We have food, our own media, signs and support. This feels alive, new, and hope is in the air. Hope for what I don't know, but in this age of austerity even a flicker of hope is enough for the many who do not know what the next day will bring.
I will be wearing an orange bandana beneath my Union Army hat, so anyone who comes by might recognize me as an agent working on behalf of the Great Orange Satan. Workers of the Wall Street plutonomy unite, you have almost nothing left to lose.
Below the cute orange squiggle there will be links and updates and more
Okay, first the links for where to find out more, and how you can help.
First, check out occupywallst.org, which is the main site for the protests, as far as I can see.
Next, if you use twitter, check out what's trending under #OccupyWallStreet and retweet it, or put in your own thoughts and comments. Indeed, the whole world is watching, and tweeting too.
If you use Facebook or other social media sites, like, follow, post about ti, whatever it takes. The more eyes the better, the more the merrier.
Next, if you would like to contribute to our media fund, follow this link at TheOther99%'s wepay.com account
There are other funds for food and other supplies, I will include links as soon as I find the most appropriate ones.
If you are looking to send other supplies, we need blankets, bottled water, first aid products and other things. If I can put together a list I will post it as well as other useful information.
And finally, before I publish and start uploading pictures, I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who is supporting these efforts, whether in person or through action or in spirit. We are here for you. We are here for each other.
This is Jesse LaGreca, reporting from the battlefront of the class war, wishing peace and love to one and all.
Cheers
