Tonight, we're going to learn how to make a bigot pie. First, you buy a pie. Then, you find a nice, fresh bigot. And, well, I think you can figure out the rest.
Here's a fun fact: On this date 34 years ago, orange-juice-spokesperson-turned-anti-gay-demagogue Anita Bryant became one of the first public figures to be "pied." Not that I, an advocate for civil and passionate debate, would condone dessert violence. Oh, no, never! (wink wink) But you have to admit, it makes for some priceless video footage. Not to mention a priceless photo:

Who wants to celebrate today's anniversary by watching Anita Bryant get pied in the face? I do - but first, the obligatory word from our sponsor:
Here at Top Comments, we round up some of the site's best, funniest, most mojo'd, and most informative commentary. We depend on your help with talent spotting. If you see a comment by another Kossack that deserves wider recognition, please send it to topcomments at gmail dot com by 9:30 PM EST. Please include a few words about why you sent it in, as well as your user name (even if you think we know it already), so we can credit you with the find!
And now, as promised, some video clips you'll watch over and over and over.
It started off with Bryant spouting her usual anti-gay "save our children" crap in front of television cameras. And then it happened. And it was beautiful. Not even Bryant's snide remark, "Well at least it's a fruit pie," could ruin the moment. Pure pwnage.
Who wants to see Anita Bryant cry banana cream tears? Okay, now I'm just being mean. You know you're gonna watch it, though.
Don't get me wrong, I love the glitter-bomb stuff. But no glitter-bombing video comes even remotely close to this. Fabulous! Thanks to the activist who gave us this amazing footage that we're still enjoying 34 years later.
Now, On To The Top Comments!
A special thanks to this week's Top Comments contributors!
From smileycreek:
This suggestion for how Mayor Bloomberg should really clean up Wall Street deserves Top Comments on the merits alone, but that it's by Meteor Blades only makes it more fabulous!
From belinda ridgewood:
In kos's diary about Max Udargo's brilliant Open Letter, trillian comments movingly about life-changing experiences that the young 53%-er has yet to encounter.
From Dragon5616:
I liked this mini-rant from Eman in Joan McCarter's front page post Scott Brown blames plagiarism on summer intern.
And finally, from yours truly, Chrislove:
I really liked this comment by zorp in Gilas Goat Boy's important diary on credit unions and the "Move Your Money Project." Couldn't agree more, having had both the bank and the credit union experience.
Finally, Some Top Mojo!
