Since my new little doll baby's so cute, her mug deserves to be posted twice! :D
It's time for "this day in history." On October 17, 1931, Al Capone was convicted of income tax evasion and sentenced to 11 years in prison. I seriously doubt his conviction was quite as "exciting" as portrayed in The Untouchables, but, since he couldn't be gotten for murder, why not for tax evasion? ;D "Un - American" Playwright Arthur Miller was born in New York City on this date in 1915. He opted to not name names in the hey - day of HUAC at the same time he was "Mr. Marilyn Monroe." Mike Judge, animator and director Beavis and Butthead and King of the Hill is 49 today! He is also "responsible" for a must - see movie for anyone who's done "cubicle time." ;D
On with The Rachel Maddow Show!
"Hold the Line" - Some of the first images from the earthquake in Haiti came from cell phones. An aid worker used her cell phone to text her family & friends to let them know she was OK. Her bill? Over $34K - $HIT! She got no word from her provider that she was "over her limits." Apparently, that policy will go the way of Crystal Pepsi. President Obama was firmly pro - regulation in NC today. 20 people in NYC were arrested at a CitiBank branch on Saturday trying to close their accounts. A newly - married couple in Cincinnati wanted Occupy Cincinnati peeps in their wedding pictures! :D Occupy peeps don't exactly have a whole lot of warm & fuzzies toward Dems, either. Rep. Barney Frank gets Occupy & regulation duty. Rep. Frank, do you really really want to lecture the Occupy peeps for not supporting you - SERIOUSLY?! OK, I'm bailing on Rep. Frank; he must not have had enough fiber in his diet today because he seems awfully bound up.
"Blues Clues" - A whole lot of towns are getting grants from the DOJ to either hire new cops or to help keep the cops they have. SOCIALISM! Bat$hit Bachmann asked for stim money from that program so a town in her district could get more cops; that town got its cops. So, will that drum her out of GOBP POTUS nominee contention?
"New World Orders" - Having foreign policy creds in the GOBP bat$hit clown car is so elitist! The most qualified guy in said clown car, Jon Huntsman, is a distant distant distant LAST. We are quite busy militarily all over the sparking world. Boss Limbaugh thinks President Obama is anti - Christian for sending troops against the Lord's Militia or whatever the spark they are. These peeps like to massacre more than Bible study, though, I think. Michael Hastings wrote an article for Rolling Stone about how this administration goes to war. He wants to use military might to protect innocent civilians no matter where they are. Um, how practical is that - no matter what the motives might be?
"Papers, Please" - So, do we need to begin calling AL the "Show Me Your Papers" State Deux? Sure as $hit sounds like it! Their law is way worse!! Some key provisions were kept in place; afterwards, what few Hispanics were in the state exited stage right. The KS AG is the "inspiration" behind all these "fun" draconian anti - immigration laws. I wonder if a Hispanic person mows his lawn or anything? Jose Antonio Vargas gets to chat up the AL immigration law. The law has had a huge impact in that state. Gee, I can't imagine why! People who claim to support the law in AL don't really know what's in the law they support. Can't say that surprises me!
