Well folks, once again the rats are fleeing another GOP ship. Remember how only a few weeks ago Michele Bachmann was at the top of the presidential candidate heap? She seemed unstoppable, but then Reality in the form of Rick Perry stuck its nose under her Happy Tent and her support began to fall apart like last year’s birds nest. And today, with her share of the Enthusiasm Pie having dwindled to single digits, she suffered a mass exodus of her campaign staff.
Will she now give it up, or will she, in a tradition honored so nobly this year by Newt “The Big Zero” Gingrich (and pioneered by Harold Stassen) hang around the dance long after everyone else has paired up and gone home? My guess is that Bachmann will bitter-end this thing, and still be on her feet when the GOP convention convenes next year, hoping for some kind of deadlock and then some Deus ex machina to propel her magically to the nomination, presumably while clouds of angels sing her praises.
