It seems that Joe the Plumber, a.k.a. Sam Wurzelbacher, isn't going to take
insults about his military service lying down. After it was announced that he had formed a campaign committee and filed for candidacy in Ohio's Ninth District, Rep. Marcy Kaptur's spokesman scoffed:
His name's not Joe. He's not a plumber. And we're not sure what congressional district he lives in. Other than that, he's the perfect candidate.
And it seems that's akin to spitting on a soldier's grave because JtP'stm campaign fired back:
... claiming that Joe served in the U.S. Air Force as a plumber from 1992 to 1996.
"After leaving the Air Force, Joe legally worked as plumber for numerous plumbing companies in the Toledo area," said spokesman Roman Schroeder.
Wurzelbacher went on to accuse Kaptur of "maligning his record of military service and hard work."
If you missed the part about Kaptur maligning his military service, well, that's because it's not there. But when you're in a race you're going to lose, making shit up is probably your only chance at media attention.
It looks like Joe Sam is going with his strengths.
