I got really ticked off by the ridiculous Heritage Foundation/AEI study purporting to show that teachers are greatly overcompensated. I penned a response in the Dallas Morning News.
Not sure if it's behind a paywall or not. A snippet to get you started:
On a recent morning, as I headed into work, a story came on the radio that shook me up. Someone had let the cat out of the bag. Public school teachers are not the overworked and underpaid people we pretend to be. Instead, the story revealed the terrible truth: We are highly overpaid.
I could hardly believe my ears. I put down my cappuccino and ordered Ivan, my driver, to turn the radio up. A new study by the American Enterprise Institute, a conservative think tank, had concluded that teachers are greatly overcompensated when compared to similarly qualified workers in the private sector. A sense of panic took hold of me. What would this mean, now that the news was out?
