I got this information earlier today from fellow Kosack Brit:
Glenn Mulcaire, the private investigator who was convicted a few years ago of hacking for News Corp. and has already served six months in prison for his crimes - has been arrested by UK police one again on suspicion of phone hacking and also, this time...perverting the course of justice, a.k.a. attempting a cover-up of some kind!
From ABC Brisbane (Australian Broadcasting Corporation):
British police have reportedly arrested the private eye at the heart of the scandal over illegal newspaper telephone hacking which forced Rupert Murdoch to shut Britain's most-read newspaper and rocked the media and political elite.
Police said a 41-year-old man has been detained in London on suspicion of conspiring to intercept voicemail messages and perverting the course of justice.
"Officers from Operation Weeting arrested a man in connection with phone hacking and perverting the course of justice," London's Metropolitan Police said in a statement.
Sky TV, part-owned by News Corp, said the man was Glenn Mulcaire, the private investigator accused of listening to phone mail messages on behalf of journalists. Mulcaire's lawyer was not immediately available for comment.

It would appear they are trying to get Mr. Mulcaire to sing - surely he doesn't want to go back to prison! You may remember it was discovered that Murdoch was paying all his legal fees, which officially was stopped, but come on...
In other recent Murdochgate news, the Australian government sh*t-canned Murdoch's craven attempt to take over a big chunk of that country's international broadcasting service, including into large swaths of Asia. Instead, control was kept with the State-owned Australian Broadcast Corporation, creators of the more recent Mulcaire story excerpted above!

UPDATE 1:
From Brit, in the comments:
Mulcaire has already said he passed on Milly Dowler's details and didn't hack the phone himself.
That was not the modus operandi at NotW, as the Goodman case proved, and all subsequent investigations suggest: PI's provided the raw access details. Journalists did most the hacking.
So I think the weight of evidence points to the secondary 'perversion of the course of justice' charge. It's clearly designed, and perhaps choreographed, to get key evidence against some senior executives.
And in other news:
James Murdoch's lawyers confirm Tom Watson was put under surveillance
http://www.guardian.co.uk/...
James Murdoch's lawyers have confirmed that Labour MP Tom Watson was put under surveillance for a week in 2009, in a letter sent to Parliament.
Three News International employees were involved in setting up the monitoring of Watson, an outspoken critic of the company, the letter to MPs on the culture, media and sport select committee published on Wednesday added.
Linkaters, the lawyers for Murdoch and News Corporation, added that "we do not think it appropriate to name names" and said they had discussed this with the Metropolitan police who "share this view".
