I just read an article on Yahoo news that MSNBC has apologized to Mitt Romney for reporting the story that he has been using a tag line similar to the one the KKK used in the 1920's. It's right here: http://news.yahoo.com/...
I'm sorry, but no apologies. Not for facts. Not now, and not against the Republicans. Especially the way they disrespect American diversity, our government and even their own great (albeit brief) history of promoting freedom and diversity in America.
In fact, I'd like to put forward a challenge to the Republicans. They should apologize.
Apologize for the blatant racism, religious and ethnic bigotry that they have used to exploit cultural divisions and win elections (whether they really agreed with that bigotry is a moot point). And they have been doing this for years.
Apologize for supporting - if not fomenting - a cowardly, disgusting campaign of character assassination against the President of the United States, Barack Obama, which claimed he was secretly born in another country - the lowest political attack against a US President in our history.
Apologize for not immediately calling for the dismissal of each of the many Republican local officials who have found it necessary and/or entertaining to send around blatantly racist jokes, statements and cartoons about President Obama and his family.
Apologize for not immediately disowning the Tea Party in the beginning, when they brought posters with photos the piles of the dead bodies found in the concentration camps at the end of World War 2 to anti-health care legislation rallies.
Apologize for playing to the rhetoric of the extremist rabble in the Tea Party to win elections while ignoring the real pain and suffering of millions of Americans who don't have health care, don't have jobs and don't have homes.
Apologize for their legislative agenda of the past 3 years, regardless of their majority or minority status, which has amounted to intentionally putting the breaks on the economic recovery in order to render the President politically vulnerable so they can win it all in 2012.
Let's see Mitt, Newt or the other Not Romneys do that. And until then, no apologies for reporting facts.
