I wish I could take credit for coining "The Bozone Layer" - but I just read it in the comments section of today's LA Times editorial,
Ron Paul's racist link: The candidate should explain how offensive comments about the L.A. riots were printed in his newsletter.
offered by a commenter named markschaffer, whose full post reads,
I see the Bozone layer around the Ronny Paul followers is impenetrable to facts and logic.
Frickin' priceless.
I started scrolling through the comments to the editorial - a mild, reasoned piece that essentially calls Paul to account for his running of a racist screed in his newsletter just after the 1992 L.A. riots - just for yuks. I wanted to test my hypothesis that anything even remotely critical of Paul, such as the editorial, would bring out the Paul-hive in a flash.
I was not disappointed. The comments are amazing, breathtaking in their overt and thinly veiled racism. Some commenters twisted themselves into logical pretzels in an attempt to appear "fair."
But a cold, impartial reading of the comments reveals that any attempt to obscure the stoooopid failed utterly:
If Ron Paul is racist what do you call Reginald Denny's attackers? I guarantee not one single editorial writer of this paper has ever been south of the 10 Freeway or has black people as friends.
Nice, The Only Thing you can find on this man is some 20+ year old news letters that have his name on the top. He didn't even write that! Ron Paul 2012!
You are getting closer to the truth, but you fail to understand the concept of liberty and freedom of expression which Dr. Paul provided to those who volunteered to continue the quest for the preservation of our values and principles. If you read the newsletters in questions you could probably find that the issues that were being discussed there were about values and culture and not about demeaning anyone.
Hold on -
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!
Okay, back to more stoooopid. Here's one from a commenter who cleverly calls himself Whining Entitled, Leftist, Loser:
Here's a few statistics you'll never read in the L.A. Slimes.
African-Americans are ELEVEN TIMES more per capita likely to commit murder than non-Hispanic whites.
The incident of an African-American murdering a white is FIFTY FIVE TIMES more per capita likely than vice-versa.
Nationally, less than 50% of African-American males will graduate high school.
Since 1980, the percentage of African-Americans residing in the city of Los Angeles has been cut in half. (from 20% to just under 10%)
Most readers would find the above information, fascinating. Far more fascinating than say a stale joke in a "newsletter" published two decades ago.
But here we go again.
The President, despite graduating from Columbia Univ and Harvard Law School has provided the press less information about his college years than any other President in modern history.
Since his birth in a Hawaiian manger, we've not learned how a self admitted "partying, lackluster student" at Occidental was somehow admitted as a transfer to Ivy League, Columbia. Or what classes he took. Or what his GPA was. Likewise, after a five year gap between Columbia and Harvard, what criteria did Harvard examine when granting Obama admission? For a President filled with himself (Obama to Steve Kroft of 60 Minutes, "I'm the 4th best President, ever") we know next to nothing about him.
The L.A. times as "watchdog press." LMAO.
Once again -
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!
Commenter Justin Rogers, a little unclear on the concept of what an "editorial" is, as opposed to an op-ed piece, and who extends his ignorance to try to provide cover for Paul's actions as editor of his newsletter:
Does anyone else find it completely ironic that this piece does not show a writer? I mean, how funny is that?
Will the LA Times (the publisher) take credit for this actually being journalism that represents their view, like they want Paul (the publisher) to do with an article that was penned under his name? This is retarded, ancient blabber that has been totally debunked by Paul, others in the media (believe it or not), and even the president of the NAACP.
Let's make this clear: It is literally IMPOSSIBLE for Dr. Paul to be racist because he does not see people as groups . . . period. He is all about individual liberty and individual responsibility. You cannot hold those beliefs and be racist. Dr. Paul has many supporters from all walks of life, all income levels, all races, all colors, all ages. Go ahead and bash his foreign policy with your neo-con lies about how people only hate us because we're free and prosperous (lol). But be careful with the racist accusation; that will flat-out backfire on you.
- and so on. I mean, I pretty much just looked at the 20 or so most recent comments. The Paul-borg was able to swarm the comments section to the tune of about 6 or 7 professions of fealty for every sane posting. It's actually a very impressive phenomenon.
Let's put it this way: I'm sure there are a few quarterbacks in the NFL who wish they could count on this kind of protection after the snap.
