Monday, 12/19 the hubbie's computer blew up. It's dead. And I'm like, I refuse to spend money on a 1998 Dell when we need to replace the computers in the store and the back office.
We're running our business on Quickbooks 2006. It is kaput, deprecated and totally without support. WHATEVER! I tried to upgrade to 2010 but realized that I needed to buy a gaming machine, (2.0 GHZ processor, 1 GB RAM and 2.5GB disk space) in order to run it. Sorry, not going there! So we know that we HAVE to buy at least one machine and that machine should be stout enough to run the QB 2012 upgrade we eventually have to get. Soo, I'm like - let's get a new computer for the back office and you, Dear Husband can take over the practically brand new 2006 desktop for your surfing! heehee! And we never, ever do something without research so this will be a bit of a drawn out affair.
So we now have an uneasy compromise. We share my laptop Monday afternoon. Tuesday morning I get up, he's at my laptop and I'm sol. grrrr. This will not work long term... follow me below the professional overspin on a fishing reel....
I leave to go to town on Tuesday morning, come home and find my laptop moved to HIS desk. harrumph! Guess I don't have a computer anymore? Well, you know you can't watch the store from your desk, so I moved it over here. grrrrrrrr. New Computer Coming in 3...2..1.... We ordered a computer last night. So we're still sharing. The new guy won't be here until 12/26. In the meantime, we're running around trying to get ready for our 1st vacation in 6 years. We're going camping with our friends at Doran Beach in Bodega Bay. 12/25 to 1/1! w00t!
So I sit down tonight and get on the KOS. I'm in and out a dozen times. Finally about 9:30pm I refreshed and went - this ain't right. Where are the ads? Then it dawned on me - somebody bought me a sub. No Way! So I fire up the email for the first time in a couple of days and find this in the "deleted" file from 12/19.

I always enjoy your comments...sometimes us late night CA folks chatter at each other...happy holidays.
Well, I am truly blown away. I think I have something in my eyes. Dear Anonmyous Benefactor, I am so grateful. When this whole thing started, I had somebody in mind I wanted to gift but there were technical problems. I wrote a ticket. A couple of days later, I went to gift again, but that person was already gifted. So I picked another person whose diaries I consider extremely important. That went through. I was suprised to find I had been nominated when my name appeared in one of the list diaries. I'm a nothing.
Thank You AnonmyousB. I am so grateful. I had planned on buying myself a sub but having to buy a new computer was really going to cause a hit and I started thinking... maybe I shouldn't.
Am looking toward more "late night CA folk chatter". And if you're in the SF Area, site 104 at Doran Beach will be our HQ from 12/25 to 1/1. We'll be hunting Dungness crab and fish. I'll be happy to share. I so love this place! Happy Holidays!!
