The increasingly desperate and nutty battle for the top prize in Iowa just took an even wackier turn.
In the sarcastically titled, "For All of Santorum’s Traditionalism Rhetoric" Tea Party hero, CNN contributor, Red State founder Erick Erickson blows the lid off Rick Santorum's apparently troublesome gay-friendly connections:
Universal Health Services, on whose board he sat until he left in June of this year, runs a PRIDE Institute in Minnesota. It’s the “nation’s first and leading provider of mental health service to the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered community.”
Ironically, given Santorum’s strong comments on “homosexual acts,” according to the PRIDE Institute, its exclusive focus on the gay community is necessary because “the society in which we live marginalizes the LGBT community” with “negative covert and overt messages about the gay and lesbian lifestyle.”
Oh noes!
Apparently substance abuse clinics for gays are not something good conservatives can cotten. Which makes me wonder is Erickson suggesting LGBT people should not seek help for drug or alcohol problems? Should there be no such facilities? Is it a plank in the conservative platform that gay and lesbian addicts stay addicts?
Anyway Red Staters got the message: Beware of Rick Santorum, it appears he's a little too cozy with the gays.
Republicans are strange. I was under the impression if you were in the market for an anti-gay candidate, Rick Santorum was a safe bet. But what do I know?
The search for purity continues!
