This is a repost from over the weekend. Although the goal appears to have been reached, it's not certain that pledges from the first drive will renew. Just to be sure those pledges are covered, I'd like to see the final total hit $3,000. (The first round garnered $985.) So, please do what you can and if you need extra incentive, be sure to download & read the first installment. You'll be glad you did!

UPDATE 11:00 am (CDT): We only need $335 in pledges to reach our goal.   Be sure to tell your friends, family, and co-workers. Let's make this happen!

One of our own has been doing his best under extraordinarily hard circumstances. He goes by the handle The Gimp. I've followed his diaries for a while now and been absolutely astounded by the fabulous artwork (after the squiggle) he produces. He is a mouth artist & uses a lightboard to create some of the most life-like portraits I've ever seen.

He has struggled to keep a roof over his and his wife's heads, the heat & lights on, and food on their table. Now he has found a way to use his phenomenal talent and turn it into a career. He's close to his goal, but time is VERY short.

We've got three days to see him succeed.
We've got one last day to see him succeed.

Here's a sample of his recent work:

His plan, in his words:

Hellwatch: Season One is a supernatural horror novella series with a strong disabled protagonist, broken into 9 novella 'episodes'. The Pilot Episode is free to download here! Each of the remaining 8 episodes will come out monthly, starting in January of 2012. Your support will help me make that happen! A schedule of Season One can be viewed here.

This Kickstarter project will fund episodes 2 AND 3.

To that end, he started a pledge drive on Kickstarter to get the project launched. You can be a part of this ground-breaking series beyond financial support - you can literally become part of the story, depending on your pledge level.

What better investment can you make than to assist someone in becoming self-sufficient?  This is the type of support this community has so recently enjoyed participating in during the subscription drive. So, c'mon, Kossacks - let's get behind this effort and get The Gimp the help he needs to make this a rousing success!

Remember, we've only got three days to see him succeed.
Remember, we've got ONE LAST DAY to see him succeed. Pledges can be as little as one dollar, although five will get you the next two episodes in the series.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
