Much is written about how the U.S. compares to the Roman empire in decline. Not a chance. We are witnessing a brutal and barbaric system in ascendancy. For such system and the people who benefit from it, the current state of affairs could not be more perfect.
Tens of thousands of people are suffering and dying because they are actively being denied access to health care. Millions of people are walking around with tooth aches, and oral infections for months, or even years. Every day you hear about more and more murder-suicides across the country, involving multiple members of families, as the brutality and barbarism of this system wrecks havoc on people's minds.
More wars are on the horizon, mainly for the benefit of war profiteers.
This iteration of fascism has the potential of becoming more brutal than anything we've seen in history because the perpetrators hide behind the corporate veil, which gives the Corporatocracy carte blanche to impose an increased level of oppression in anonymity.
It's Social Darwinism on steroids. The slaves (workers) are increasingly exploited and oppressed, and as they try to keep up, their productivity goes up, while their wages diminish, with the difference going to the pockets of the Oligarchy.
Those who can't keep up, and fall ill, or into poverty, are just left to die, to gather in ghettos--powerless.
The rest, in fear, just try to keep up, as the oppression and exploitation increases.
The weak and infirm, dies, loses his mind, kills his family, and then turn a gun on himself.
And all this happens, as members of the ruling elite become more powerful, more wealthy, as they bathe in luxury and opulence.
Peace? I guess we have no other option, since we are under constant (universal, and total awareness) surveillance by the fascist police state protecting the Corporatocracy.
But, yes, at some level I wonder when the tens of thousands of people who are just counting the days before they die horrible deaths, in pain, under unimaginable mental stress caused on purpose by the increasingly exploitative system, may stop being "polite" and accepting their death sentences quietly.
No, this is no Roman empire in decline. One simple test: follow the goddamned money. It's being transferred at a faster and faster rate (you can almost hear the giant sucking sound) from the population to the pockets of the oligarchs.
The weak and infirm die off, discarded as if they were garbage, as the healthy slaves continue to labor for scraps, and for the benefits of the oligarchs.
I just hope that when those hundreds of thousands of people being brutalized decide to pay attention to the source of oppression, that they correctly identify it. Yes, Wall Street, Bank of America, ALEC, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, their directors, CEOs, think tanks in charge of the brainwashing of America. The corrupt (money-grabbing) politicians.
But again, because of the nature of this system, and the incredibly lack of intellect in the population (also by design), it is more likely that the people will go on suffering, dying for lack of health care, shooting their close family members before they kill themselves, or jailed for violating increasingly draconian laws (debtor's prison, anyone?)
When would people realize that the whole system needs to be stopped at once? It is being used to enslave us, to cut us down with barbarism and inhumanity.
Let's see what happens this Friday in the financial district in San Francisco... About shutting the whole fucking system down (including Wall Street) indefinitely until we the people can turn this shit right?
I know... People are not ready for that. The pain threshold of us slaves to capitalism is high indeed.
