Talk about it here. Watch it live on CNN or
online.
4:59 PM PT: Just when it was starting to get boring ... just when the debates were starting to become grueling ... blam! Another Not Romney surges. Congratulations Newt. And thanks for keeping the flame alive.
5:00 PM PT: Wolf Blitzer is telling us he's sure most of Rick Perry's supporters will go to Newt, and very few will go to Mitt. Well, um, the polls say they are split evenly. Now, that could change thanks to Newtmentum. But that's speculation.
5:01 PM PT: John King is the host of tonight's debate. Four candidates will participate: Mitt, Romney, Newt, and Gingrich. Oh and Ron Paul and Rick Santorum too.
5:02 PM PT: The announcer proclaims Mitt Romney is the frontrunner and seeks another win. Okay, fair enough. But he's only 1 for 2. And his win came in his backyard.
5:05 PM PT: People from 13 southern states and the Tea Party Patriots will be in the House tonight. In other words, it should be a fairly embarrassing crowd for the GOP, again.
5:06 PM PT: Here's a glimpse of what the clowns looked like before the debate got underway.
5:08 PM PT: Rick Santorum claims credit for his Iowa victory. Mitt says how great it is to be here with his wife. And mentions how long he's been married to her. Translation: he's not a dirtbag like Newt. Seemed smarmy to me. Newt and Paul seemed more at ease and lest practiced than either Santorum or Mitt.
5:11 PM PT: King asks if Newt cares to respond to the attacks on him by his wife. Newt says "no" and the crowd erupts. He says that he is "appalled" that King would start by raising his fidelity. The crowd erupts some more. "Every person in here knows personal pain ... to take an ex-wife and make it two days before the primary a major issue is as close to despicable as anything I can imagine. My two daughters wrote the head of ABC and made the point that it was wrong and they should pull it, and I am frankly astounded that CNN would take trash like that and use it to open a presidential debate."
5:12 PM PT (Kaili Joy Gray): The liveblogging continues in the next thread.
