I got an advertisement (here on DKos) asking me to contribute to the effort to support Scott (Walker), ostensibly for all he's done for (to) Wisconsin. I felt it would be best to contact these fine folks to share my thoughts with them.
What follows is my letter to them. I hope they enjoy it as much as you do.
To the Republican Governors Association,
Please continue to support Governor Scott Walker in his fight to remain in Office. Although I believe he will lose the fight badly, I want to see the profile of this race raised as high as possible. Scott Walker has laid out the Conservative Republican agenda more clearly than any other major political figure of the day, and this election will represent a solid repudiation of that agenda.
Folks in Wisconsin have had enough of Governor Walker and the more we see of him, the worse it becomes. As this battle moves on, it will only get worse for him. It's not a good idea to cross Badgers the way this Governor has, and the determination to be rid of him is powerful and continues to grow. I'd just like for this recall election to be THE story of the early summer, 2012. I'd like for the RGA and other groups to throw in a ton of money and for Progressive groups and Progressive People all over the Nation to do the same. Scott Walker is going to be recalled when the results of the petition drive are certified, and will lose badly when he runs again, of this I am certain. How much significance that loss holds will depend in large measure to how much money and energy is put into it, so let's make it as much as possible.
Thank you for the advertisement which brought me to you, and for your interest in this campaign. Please keep up the good work! This is a fight we've been very much looking forward to, and we're glad you have joined it!
Best Regards,
(elwior)
They might not think so, but I'm totally serious. Wisconsin will be saturated during this campaign, well beyond the point of mutually assured destruction, so at some point the money won't matter to the People any more, but just serve to raise the profile of the race. Not only that, but the timing couldn't be worse for the GOP, coming so closely before the big election of 2012, not to mention the Populist sentiment swirling around the Nation flying in the face of stooges like Scott Walker and those he works for.
I hope the Republican Governors Association blows a bundle on this race, only to come up empty and embarrassed. I urge others to communicate with them to urge them on in supporting this big-time loser.
