Well what about this?
An interview between Nancy Pelosi, the Democratic Minority Leader in the House, and CNN's John King just went like this:
Pelosi: "He's not going to be President of the United States. That's not going to happen. Let me just make my prediction and stand by it, it isn't going to happen."
King: "Why are you so sure?"
Pelosi: "There is something I know. The Republicans, if they choose to nominate him that's their prerogative. I don't even think that's going to happen."

Ms. Pelosi is, of course, an extremely able politician. She would not say that if she were not deadly serious.
What might be the secret?
Is this a signal the Democratic establishment would really rather run against Romney? I find this hard to believe.
My take is that Ms. Pelosi has good reason to despise Gingrich, far beyond what most people know so far, and I think she's speaking out of genuine patriotism, not partisanship.
Edit: Here's a video of her statement:

Hat-tip to Tremayne.
