You remember this, right? Fox News accused the Muppets' new movie of containing a dangerous liberal agenda and trying to indoctrinate children into communism.
The Atlantic Wire sums it up...
"You see the astute thesis here is that, because the villain in the new Muppets movie is a mean old oilman named Tex Richman, the movie, which was written and made well before any of the recent Occupy unrest (and y'know is for children and stuff), is indoctrinating children to hate the rich. The Muppets are stirring the pot of class warfare, which the poor, and never the other way around, is forever waging against pitiable, defenseless wealthy elites. Eric Bolling manages to drag three guests (including candy corn-victim Andrea Tantaros) into this ludicrous conversation, even the token liberal professor (so like a crazy professor to be liberal), who should know better than to get involved in such a painfully silly debate."
Well, the Muppets struck back! Video and transcript below the fold!

Reporter: "Question for Kermit. Kermit, everybody who's seen the film loves it. It's suitable for kids, it's suitable for parents, but I'm gonna ask you how you felt when, I think it was Eric Bollins from Fox News, said it was pushing a dangerous liberal agenda and trying to brainwash children?"
Kermit: "Oh, yes, it's soooo dangerous."
[Laughter]
Kermit: "It's so afraid. You know it's a funny thing, they were concerned about us having some prejudice againsts oil companies and I can tell you that's categorically not true. And besides, if we had a problem with oil companies, why would we have spent the entire film driving around in a gas guzzling Royles Royce?"
[Laughter]
Miss Piggy: "It's almost as laughable as accusing Fox News as, uh, you know, being news."
[Applause]
Kermit: "Boy, that's going to be all over the internet. You are in such deep water."
Miss Piggy: "Yeah, if they take what I say seriously, they've got a real big problem."
Kermit: "Wow."
On a personal note, what Fox said about the Muppets really offended me. When Jim Henson was alive, his entire focus was helping children learn and discover the world with such TV shows as Sesame Street and Fraggle Rock. He tried to change the world for the better. His whole idea for Fraggle Rock was to create a show that created world peace. The idea that his family has been trying to deliberately hurt children is outrageous and sickening. I've always hated Fox News but this made it personal. They messed with the Muppets. That I do not forgive.
And neither apparently does Miss Piggy.
