Little-known openly gay Republican presidential candidate Fred Karger is accusing the American Conservative Union, which produces the annual Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), of discrimination based on his sexual orientation. During a campaign swing in Lansing, Mich., Monday, Karger said he intends to file a complaint with Washington, D.C., officials charging he was denied a booth at CPAC because he is gay. “They have a no-gays-allowed policy,” Karger said.

A Florida bill that would allow poll workers to ask voters for “additional information” when they present their mandatory photo IDs moved through a state Senate committee today. Supervisors of elections in the state have said that passing the bill would make election day voting faster. Leon County Supervisor of Elections Ion Sancho explained to committee members today that precincts could be facing longer lines come election day because there are fewer voting locations and more voters. But state Sen. Joe Negron, R-Palm City, said the bill would add another barrier to voting, prompting him to introduce an amendment that would stop poll workers from seeking information by swiping a driver’s license.

Or imagine another pregnant employee who was fired from her retail job after giving her supervisors a doctor’s note requesting she be allowed to refrain from heavy lifting and climbing ladders during the month and a half before her maternity leave[.]
When Tony’s soon-to-be-ex-wife left him back in 1994, he made the decision to begin work on a massive project that would transform the 500-square foot interior of his flat into that of a Starfleet ship. Basing his designs on the USS Voyager, Alleyne got to work. After 10 years, Alleyne’s work was complete. His apartment looked like something out of one of a Trek fan’s most exquisite wet dreams. He had hand-crafted every piece of furniture, reworked the walls, added a command console, a transporter room, voice-activated lighting sytestem… even a Trek bathroom! Alleyne’s apartment was as close as any fan is going to get to cruising on the Voyager in our lifetimes. [...] After 16 years, Alleyne’s divorce is being finalized and his ex-wife Georgina has decided that she wants to sell the apartment since she is the legal owner and has paid the mortage on it since leaving in 1994.

Pierson answered, "passing out."
