Sometime last year a Republican survey arrived in my mailbox. (I swear I don't know how I got on their list!) Rather than trash it I dutifully filled it in with my opinions. I gave them low ratings & advised them to keep on with Sarah Palin as she was helping their platform so much! They responded by mailing me a 2012 Ronald Reagan calendar.
Again, I was tempted to trash it, but decided to "recycle". I hung it up and said to my family we should add a balloon to the picture of Ronnie with a quote of some of his odd statements or bloopers for each month of the year. For January I added - "A tree is a tree. How many do you need to look at?"
I am now faced with turning the page to February. I thought some of you might enjoy playing along! What is one of your favorite Ronald Reagan quotes? Follow me over the squiggle for more info about me.
I was doubly blessed with the Ronald Reagan years. I live in California and first experienced him as governor. I took the bus home from high school and saw the Calif. National Guard on street corners during the People's Park riots. I watched the streets fill up with the mentally ill & homeless. I watched with horror as we elected him president. (As California goes, so goes the nation - I guess.)
February 2012 features a picture of Ronald Reagan at the "Western White House" sitting outdoors at a table with microphones, reading from script in hand. I just wonder what he is saying....
Anyway, here is my first diary. I need to admit to lurker guilt. I feel guilty that as a lurker I know more about you-all than you know about me. I only recently became a member and have been enjoying being able to reveal a little about myself in comments. Here's something else. I had a crisis last year and almost changed my voter registration to Green Party. I even went online & printed out the form & started to fill it in. Then it sat on the kitchen table for quite a while & eventually I threw it out. I'm 60 years old, have been a registered Democrat since I was able to vote. I had voter registration forms pinned to the fridge for both my girls as their 18th birthdays approached. I am a proud unabashed liberal progressive Democrat & a DFH! I credit my lurking & reading here at the GS with saving me from jumping off that cliff. Thanks guys!
