When Mitt made this speech the press reports were all about how Romney had doubled down on his claim to be a "job creator" upping the number of jobs Mitt is claiming to have created to 120,000 jobs. The Press ignored Romney's smearing of the President as being hostile to capitalism.
President Obama is hostile to Capitalism. That has been Rush Limbaugh's favorite attack on President Obama, one his gullible, grotesquely misinformed listeners now parrot endlessly. Mitt Romney has adopted the extremist rhetoric of Rush Limbaugh and Mitt has been promoting Rush's favorite false premise on the campaign trail. This comes from Crooks and Liars:
Mitt Romney Says He'll Stuff Capitalism 'Down President Obama's Throat'
By karoli
ROMNEY: That profit went to pension funds, to charities. It went to a wide array of institutions. A lot of people benefited from that. And by the way, as enterprises become more profitable, they can hire more people.
I'm someone who believes in free enterprise. I think Adam Smith was right. And I'm going to stand and defend capitalism across this country, throughout this campaign. I know we're going to get hit hard from President Obama, but we're going to stuff it down his throat and point out it is capitalism and freedom that makes America strong.
Not only is Romney trying to misrepresent the President stands for, but Mitt doesn't even know his Adam Smith very well.
"The subjects of every state ought to contribute towards the support of the government, as nearly as possible, in proportion to their respective abilities, that is, in proportion to the revenue which they respectively enjoy under the protection of the state."
~ Adam Smith
Well it looks like Adam Smith agrees with President Obama on taxing the rich fairly, and NOT with Mr Romney who wants to preserve preferentially low taxes on the rich tilting the economic playing field toward the wealthy. Adam Smith would be appealed by Mitt Romney's ideas.
Romney's attack on President Obama as being hostile to capitalism didn't thrill the Tea Party much, but we Democrats should be thrilled. Romney has painted himself into the Far Right fringe along with Limbaugh. Here's Rush:
RUSH: It's easier and simpler to believe he's just an idiot, an economic ignoramus, because it fits. The guy hates capitalism. He's never been involved in capitalism. Well, he had one job in the private sector. )@(
Democrats need to excoriate Romney's move to the far right fringe of the Republican Party. Americans deserve to know that Romney is a candidate of the right fringe of an already extreme Republican Party.
