Thanks for hanging with us tonight!
7:16 PM PT (David Jarman): One last tally from the bean counting crew, seeing as how the count in Florida is almost done. With slightly over 98% reporting, the Romney total edged down a bit more; Mitt's at 46, to 32 for Gingrich, 13 for Santorum, and 7 for Paul. Romney's strongest county was also the state's most populous: Miami-Dade, with 61%, along with 57 in Collier and 54 Palm Beach... all distinguished by having lots of transplanted northeasterners. The largest county that Gingrich won was Escambia (Pensacola, in the Panhandle); Clay and Alachua are his only other big prizes, along with a handful of rural counties in the Panhandle and the empty area around Lake Okeechobee. Gingrich also kept Duval (Jacksonville) close.
7:39 PM PT (David Jarman): One more observation: tonight's turnout was approximately 1,656,000 (with a few precincts left to be counted). That's a respectable-seeming 40% of the state's 4.1 million registered Republicans... but let's flash back to 2008, when the GOP presidential primary drew 1,949,498 voters instead. Anybody sensing a little less enthusiasm for the GOP field this time?
