And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?
Matthew 7:3 KJV
Gentle reader: you may have noticed that some Republicans think it is a very very bad thing if insurers have to cover contraception for women. A very, very, very bad thing. Just terrible. A war on religion; a trampling of first amendment rights; another sign of just how liberal and un-Christian that Kenyan Muslim Socialist in the White House is.
But of course, they are hypocrites.
Since 1998, every insurer participating in the Federal Employees Health Benefit Program (FEHBP) — including members of Congress — has had access to comprehensive contraceptive coverage, including emergency contraception, such as the morning after pill. Republican lawmakers now want to prevent access to the coverage they enjoy to employees of religious organizations who may not be of that religion or who disagree with anti-contraception doctrine (89 percent of Catholics say contraception decision should be theirs, not the church’s).
Think Progress
Now this doesn't apply to, say, Boehner or Cantor or McConnell - although it would to their wives and under-27 daughters.
But Michele Bachmann? Her health plan covers contraception and morning-after pills. Virginia Foxx? Marsha Blackburn? Collins and Snowe?
Yep. Covered, and they have been since 1998. And every single member of Congress with minor children has coverage for these products.
And furthermore ... since in most states children 14 and over have the right to medical care without their parents knowledge or consent, it is entirely possible that their minor daughters are obtaining birth control, including emergency contraception, on the taxpayer's dime.
So ...
hypocrites. And you know what THAT means.
For the congregation of hypocrites shall be desolate, and fire shall consume the tabernacles of bribery.
Job 15:34 KJV
Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.
Matthew 23:23 KJV
