This is completely outrageous. The Republican currently leading in his party's primary to replace Gabrielle Giffords has compared the political situation in America with the fight by Kuwaiti's to remove Saddam Hussein from their nation during Desert Storm.
Frank Antenori (Lunatic, AZ) said: "We helped train the Kuwaiti Liberation Brigade and lead the Kuwaitis into Kuwait City to liberate their own country after it had been taken from them by Saddam Hussein. Imagine that, having your country taken from you and then having to fight for it to get it back. We’re at that point here in this country."
How tone deaf is this character? In the primary to replace a Democrat who was shot through the head and retired to complete her recovery, this... clod compares the people he does not agree with politically to Saddam Hussein, while literally comparing the justified struggle by Kuwaiti's to oust Hussein by deadly force with our current political situation. That isn't a dog whistle, it is an outright call to insurrection and can only be taken as a threat against those he disagrees with.
Let me wrap up with a note on my status with Daily Kos. I've been invited to post over the weekends at All Things Democrat. I've been a member of Kos since just after Bush's second inauguration and that will continue, but my lurking around and posting comments is going to really drop off. This is not GBCW by a long shot, and if I think one of my posts at ATD would fit well on Kos I'll cross post it. But I'm not the most prolific diarist around these parts and the time I used to spend lurking here and posting my pithy comments will now be largely spent researching for posts at ATD.
