I know, not the worst case we've heard of. But this young woman is at risk of much greater damage without treatment. She's a lifelong gymnist/dancer with three damaged discs and is getting no treatment thanks to United Health Care, their hateful policies, and local doctors and medical facilities that refuse to treat without payment up front.
THE SAVAGE US HEALTH CARE SYSTEM.
I'll keep this short.
First of all, the family has a good credit rating and no debt. However, after 40% is taken out of their paychecks, it's pretty much "paycheck-to-paycheck" living.
The parents waited through 2 months of physical therapy with no CT because United paid for that, but the CT required a $200 up front co-pay the family didn't have.
They saved up and had the CT scan to find out the 14 year old had severely damaged discs. The physical therapy was a waste of time and money. I think their co-pay was $20 per visit.
I'll keep this short:
Ortho doc prescribes spinal decompression.
Insurer denies says "we don't pay for that"
14 years old. If the three severely damaged discs aren't treated, will face life long pain and possibly worse outcomes, including child bearing issues..
We're talking $1,500 not $15,000!
These heartless, profit mongers deserve to die off.
And the clinic that provides the service demands either insurance or the money up front. No money, no treatment.
There aren't that many places to choose from, all want cash up front.
The 14 year old isn't being treated even though one of her disks is deteriorating.
And if that isn't bad enough, the same 14 year old had to miss a recent braces appt because family didn't have $400 cash for the next orthodontist installment payment because they spent money for the CT scan. Refused to treat on scheduled appointment.
When all's said and done, her dad gets to take home 60% of his pay check. Where's that 40% per pay check going? That's why there's no money for all that his family's FAUX INSURANCE doesn't cover.
The Hippocratic Oath seems dead and replaced by The Hypcritical Oath.
THE SAVAGE HEALTH CARE SYSTEM IN AMERICA SUCKS.
How can United Health Care be allowed to reject treatment for a healthy, injured 14 year old?
This is Utah, are health care providers this savage in your area, too? Refusing to treat without payment up front seems wrong to me.
