Standard disclaimer: Leave your loathing of meta, World of Warcraft, or community diaries outside. If you think we should be playing your MMO instead, start a guild and write a recruitment diary. Don't leave a comment here and then get all hurtful when it isn't received with flowers and candy. This goes double for people coming in to attack guildies over other diaries or comments - STAY OUT! Link to your recruitment diary is OK though.
Standard advertisement: Wreck List is the Daily Kos World of Warcraft guild. We are Horde-side on the Garrosh server. To join, read this diary ,visit the Guild web site, roll up a character on Garrosh and when you log in type
/who wreck list
and contact (via in-game mail or /whisper) any of our members - who can direct you to someone with /ginvite privileges and get you a guild invite. Yes, you have to be Horde. No, you don't have to be hardcore - casuals, PvPers, and people that just want to hang out on guild chat are all welcome.
More below the fold:
Well, I was going to talk about this, but Pamena's actually seen it so I'll let her do it. She also has a couple other items we can throw in here:
First - for the general diary stuff - Item #1
On Wednesday night, Daily Show viewers were exposed to "Leeroy Jenkins!" Jon Stewart was skewering CNN for its "virtual Republican convention" piece run during their Super Tuesday coverage, and then said "but you never know what might happen in a virtual reality". Then, over the CNN guy talking about the virtuality of his convention, they superimposed a cutout paladin labelled "Leeroy Jenkins" with under that name, followed by a tauren, and undead and a few other toons, all with different names and the guild name, charging across the screen, with the lead guy shouting of course "Leeeroy Jenkins!" Big applause and laughter, followed by Jon (so entranced with the phrase that he repeated it a couple of times and again at the end of the show) saying "I guarantee you there's a dude out there who just had to change his pants." I wonder how many of the writers of TDS play or have played WOW.
Item # 2: If you bought the annual pass deal a while ago, that gave you the mount and free Diablo III when it's released and an automatic invite for the next expansion Mists of Pandaria beta, you should see on your account page, as of Tuesday night, a tab for Diablo III as one of your games, although it's not downloadable yet. MMO reports that in addition, and more significantly perhaps, for a brief period Tuesday night, many people also saw a MOP beta game box and tab on their account pages. It was quickly taken down, but, yes, pics or it didn't happen, MMO has the image on its web site. Their conclusion from all this is that the MOP beta may drop much sooner than previously thought, perhaps as early as late March after the upcoming press event.
Item #3: More on gaming and improving brain function from the Wall Street Journal on ilne - http://online.wsj.com/...
Favorite part? " By one analyst's calculation, the 11 million or so registered users of the online role-playing fantasy World of Warcraft collectively have spent as much time playing the game since its introduction in 2004 as humanity spent evolving as a species—about 50 billion hours of game time, which adds up to about 5.9 million years."
I can tell you that they offered me a $5 preorder for Mists of Pandaria at GameStop yesterday. I declined because, well, GameStop - but also because of the annual pass perks.
What's going on in raiding? Let's find out:
Team RubiPam:
Team RubiPam is now 7 of 8 in Dragon Soul - last Friday, we finally got Spine down, and I believe we now understand how to do that fight. It's not at all about firepower, except for the moments you have to kill the Burning Tendon when it appears, it's about movement and timing. It was extremely satisfying. We then went on to do some very good pulls on Madness of Deathwing, and we're very hopeful about getting that done this week. Tuesday of this week, we blasted through the first 6 fights - and a special shout out to our faithful and excellent tank Flinthorn who graciously sat out in order to allow both Elu and Lawlbanked to come on the raid. Flint, you're the best! Thanael solo tanked everything up through Hegara, then Corwynn switched to his bear to be the second tank for Ultraxion and the boat boss. Lawlbanked of course is our recently returned Tharticus/Drashon in another guise, and we're very happy to have him back with us and raiding with group 2 - he is doing great heals! So, this Friday, we really hope to get Spine down again and finally do Madness, so that next week we can try heroic Morchok. Also, a special thanks to Thanael and Elu who came to raid with us despite the siren call of Mass Effect 3!!!!
