About 13 hours ago, Google was issued a court order to assist the FBI in unlocking the cellphone of a person who was involved in a prostitution ring.

Apparently this guy put a pattern lock on the phone, that the FBI simply could not figure out.
Three things immediately come to mind. First, this person is a pimp. Sure, he's doing something illegal and the FBI should try everything in their legal means to get him to stop doing it. Until prostitution is made legal, the FBI has a right to do their job.
But our rights to privacy should keep the FBI from forcing us to reveal information that is our own. To have Google get involved, is even more bizarre. Why is it that we , as a country - should try to compel Google or anyone else to reveal passwords.
The second thing is that the FBI should really be doing other things, in my view, than trying to spend so much time taking down a pimp. I really don't see the point in wasting federal dollars going after guys like this - in this way.
And of course, seriously - a pimp outwitting the FBI? Come on guys. It's a pattern lock. Brute force the thing. Roll those fuzzy dice.
