Polls are now closed in Illinois, where voters are casting ballots both in the Republican presidential primary and in downballot races throughout the state. We'll be liveblogging the results as they come in, with a heavy emphasis on the congressional contests.
Results: AP: House | House (by county) | Pres | Pres (by county)
CNN | Google | Politico (House) | Politico (Pres) | County Election Boards (PDF)
5:03 PM PT: Backing out the first batch of exit polls, we get Romney 45, Santorum 35, Gingrich 12, and Paul 8.
5:30 PM PT: We're seeing the first congressional primary results trickle in.
5:34 PM PT: 8% already reporting in IL-02 (D), and Jesse Jackson is out to a huge lead over Debbie Halvorson, 72-28.
5:35 PM PT: It's neck-and-neck with 6% reporting in IL-10 (D). Brad Schneider is at 44 and Ilya Sheyman at 43.
5:37 PM PT: Over in IL-01 (D), sapelcovits' professor Ray Lodato is in 6th place... out of 6... with 1%.
5:43 PM PT: CNN has called the presidential race for Romney. Next!
5:46 PM PT: Some votes coming in in IL-08 (D). With just 4% so far, Tammy Duckworth leads Raja Krishnamoorthi (henceforth just "Raja" for the remainder of the night) 60-40.
5:47 PM PT: 40% now reporting in IL-10 (D), and Schneider has extended his lead to 45-41 over Sheyman.
5:47 PM PT: Votes also finally showing up in IL-13 (D) and IL-16 (R), the latter of which is the marquee downballot race of the night.
5:49 PM PT: A big batch of votes came in in IL-08 (D) (Cook County appears to be rolling), and Duckworth now leads Raja 54-36 with 17% in.
5:52 PM PT: Sheyman's going to need to turn things around in the remaining precincts. Schneider is now up 46-40 with 48% in.
5:53 PM PT: And we also have the first batch of votes in IL-12 (R). Just 1% so far, though, but Jason Plummer is leading.
5:54 PM PT: It's looking a lot tougher for Sheyman now: 63% reporting and Schneider still leads 46-40.
5:58 PM PT: I don't see how Sheyman can win. It's now 47-39 Schneider with 72% reporting. Sheyman would have to perform more than 30 points better in the remaining precincts (as between the two of them) compared to how he's performed so far.
6:01 PM PT: Here's a cool map for IL-16 (R), showing which turf is currently represented by Adam Kinzinger and which by Don Manzullo:
6:03 PM PT: In IL-02 (D), Jesse Jackson is still crushing, 74-26 with 43% reporting. It's all Jackson's home turf reporting so far, but Halvorson is still doomed.
6:03 PM PT: IL-08 (D) is 63-37 Duckworth with 25% reporting.
6:04 PM PT: In IL-13 (D), Matt Goetten is up 65-35 over David Gill with 5% reporting.
6:05 PM PT: In IL-16, Kinzinger has an early 57-43 lead wiht 10% reporting. Eric Cantor is praying his boy Adam prevails....
6:06 PM PT: Note though that most of the vote counted so far in IL-16 is coming from Kinzinger's end of the district.
6:09 PM PT: Note that in IL-13 (R), incumbent Rep. Tim Johnson is pulling a weak 57% so far. However, only 5% reporting, and a lot of the turf is new to him.
6:10 PM PT: The liveblog continues in the next thread.
